Winter Park, FL — This past weekend concluded the end of the first annual Florida Basketball Association (FBA) Winter League. The FBA Winter League is very similar to the Summer League of the NBA and took place over three weekends. The Winter League gives teams the chance to evaluate prospects and potential players that will make their roster for training camp that takes place in March. This evaluation preseason league was founded by Mark King (Florida Flight Owner) and Ernest Jones (Winter Park Storm Owner) whom are both FBA team owners. At least known by the public, there is no other semi-professional league that is doing this. This league is a prime example of the FBA’s commitment to player development and player growth.

This past Sunday displayed a bright future for the FBA as they approach their upcoming 2020 regular season. Due to a larger number of prospects, the Winter Park Storm would produce two teams and both would have exceptional performances with both teams making it to the semi-finals of the Winter League playoffs. Even with the Storm having two teams in the semi-finals, it would be the Pride and the Tampa Gunners that would advance to the championship. After a tough and competitive game, it would be the Tampa Gunners that would win the first ever FBA Winter League championship. This will hopefully act as a motivational booster for the Gunners as they were tied for the second worst team in the league. Knowing that a bulk of the talent that was shown over those three weekends were primarily prospects does get a fan excited for the upcoming season.
