FBA “Very Confident” Teams Will Play in 2020

May 28, 2020 –  ORLANDO, Fla. – Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, The Florida Basketball Association (FBA) is speaking out about plans to host the 2020 season in its entirety.

CEO/Chairman Mark King and FBA Commissioner Greg Kite spoke out about the intention to play, Wednesday. There will some stipulations, however that the FBA’s Board of Governors and Board of Directors must adhere to.

  • All games in the regular season will be played in one centralized location in Florida
  • There will be no audience to begin the season (games will be streamed live for those who can’t attend)
  • Doctors and city leaders must aid in plans to ensure participants’ health and safety

“We must be confident and take the proper precautions to keep our players, referees and staff out of harm’s way,” King said in a statement, “based on what we’ve learned thus far, we feel very confident that we can implement the appropriate measures to provide a safe environment for everyone.”

The league’s Facebook page also mentions additional precautions, including using plans from FIBA as guidance.

FBA leaders say the centralized location for the games is still decided, but has yet to be announced. Games are set to take place each weekend, starting in late July. Stay with SPCSN for updates that will follow in the coming weeks.
