BJU Women’s Soccer Preview

June 18, 2021 – Greenville, SC –

The Bruins’ women’s soccer team has high hopes for the upcoming season. Unlike last season, the Bruins will have a full schedule this year. As a result of covid, there should be a little reduced pressure. They begin their first game away from home against North Carolina Wesleyan College, a team that struggled the previous season.

Last season, the team finished with a 6-8 record in a shortened season, which is decent; nevertheless, the team will face far tougher opponents this season. The majority of the problems they’ll face will come from playing against new schools they’ve never played against before. On a good note for fans and students, the team will face Toccoa Falls again, where the Bruins have a 15-2 record.

When the season begins new faces arrive. Bruins 2021 recruit class is filled with great talent in particular the transfer from Liberty Univerity Anna Grace Abrams. I asked Anna Grace if she’s excited about this new challenge and what can she bring to the team, she replied with “Yes I am excited about this new challenge and to see how I can connect with the team on and off the field, based on their style of play, I think I can be a very good addition to the team.” also Anna Grace can play midfield and upfront I asked her if the coach told her what position she playing exactly, she replied, “ the coach talked about me playing center forward but maybe some attacking midfield.”

What makes this part noteworthy is that Brinkley Adams had 4 goals and 2 assists last season, while Mia Marks had 5 goals. If Anna Grace can somehow fit in with Brinkley and Mia in her first season, and if the coach does play her upfront, this team will be dominant.

When asked about what would you say to the fans or students Anna Grace said “if I were a Bruins fan or student, I would be excited to see this team play; we have a lot of promise for the season”.
