Moss Taking “Flight”

June 26, 2021 – Longwood, FL –

An All-American, player of the week, and slam dunk champion are all things basketball sensation Brandon Moss has accomplished. After winning his fifth straight FBA player of the week, Brandon Moss is on an absolute tear to start the season for the undefeated Florida Flight. Coming off a season where he dominated, averaging 30 points, 15 boards, and 5 assists per game, defending their FBA championship is the main goal this season. So far with the way this team is playing it seems like it is impossible to stop them.

Moss, born and raised in Alabama, has played just about everywhere, including LSU Alexandria, overseas in Chile, the Florida Basketball Association with the Florida Flight, and even spent some time in the G-league with the South Bay Lakers. Everywhere Moss has been he has been an absolute star.

“There’s nobody that can stop Brandon. In fact, I’m not so sure there’s too many people in the NBA that can stop Brandon.” said Head Coach Mark King when asked about Moss’ skill set.

Standing at 6’8, Moss has been on another level this season, which was put on display last game against St. Pete Tide where Moss dropped 29 points, 21 rebounds, with an absurd 16 assists. Mark King described Moss as a “Mini Kevin Durant” with the ability to pass, dribble, and shoot.

After failing to make the roster for the South Bay Lakers, whether it was due to inner politics or not, Moss was down in spirits for a short while. Coach King is hoping that Moss can make it into the G-league draft and perform in summer league, where King says “I believe that if Brandon plays in the Summer League, he will get an NBA opportunity.” It is hard to disagree with that statement seeing as Moss is absolutely dominating every other level of competition.

After the 2019 season, things were thrown off course for the Flight.

Due to Covid, the Florida Flight went without a season in 2020 to defend their FBA championship, however once the season was on the brink of starting, Brandon was ready to help the Flight defend their FBA title. Everyone had high hopes and were in good spirits until tragedy struck.

Earlier in the year, tragedy struck for the Florida Flight family. Beloved player Seth Hilton passed away shortly before the newest season started. The news took a toll on family and teammates who were obviously shocked by the news. You can see plenty of support on the Florida Flights Facebook. The once Rookie of the Year guard for the Flight ignited a flame in his team to honor the late player. The team leader and dominant force Brandon Moss, along with the rest of the team have dedicated the current season to their late teammate.

“Seth was a gym rat. He was the first one there and the last one to leave.” said Coach King.

Coach also described how Seth working so hard was a big credit to Brandon Moss working harder in practice, and being sure to never miss a rep. Seth was a leader by his actions, while Moss encouraged others with his words.

“One of the first practices Seth was on the opposite team of Brandon, and Brandon was giving him absolute hell, talking so much trash to him and going right at him…and once we switched the teams up, Brandon and Seth were on the same team kicking butt…and Brandon was so positive towards Seth…showing if Brandon’s in your corner, he’ll lift you up.” said an emotional Michael King.

Although not there physically, Seth’s spirit lives on within the team and is propelling one of the most potent offenses the FBA has ever seen. “For us, it’s been easy so far, but we do not want to lose any more games. That’s our mindset.” Said Coach King regarding how the team is responding to Seth’s passing. This dangerous offense, led by Brandon Moss is hopefully going to be part of a stepping stone towards a brighter future. Brandon Moss already has an opportunity to play in the Middle East, and one day the goal is to make it back to the G-league, and hopefully to the NBA.

Brandon Moss and the Florida Flight are taking things one dominating game at a time. The free-spirited nature of Brandon Moss is allowing him to let the pieces of his complicated journey slowly fall into place. No one knows for certain where Moss will be in the near future, but one thing we do know…is Moss will be unstoppable no matter where he is.
