The Playoff “Push” in Houston

June 18, 2021 – Houston, TX –

With the playoffs quickly approaching, the Houston Push are looking for just that, a push. With six games remaining in the regular season, the Push hold the best record in the TBL, sitting at 18 wins with just 1 loss. They’re currently riding a 16 game win streak headed to the final stretch of the season. The balanced attack of the Push has been their recipe to success as they have eight players averaging double-digit points per game. The team is fifth in the TBL in three-point percentage and have been hot as of late, averaging 131 points per game over their last nine games.

With the playoffs approaching, a key factor to keep in mind is the experience of the coaching and ownership of this team. Coached by James White, a former NBA player drafted in 2006, Norris played 3 seasons in the NBA, winning an NBA championship in 2007 with the San Antonio Spurs, before heading overseas to play, and finally returning to the states to coach. The Push are owned by Steve “Franchise” Francis. Francis was an NBA veteran who played in the league for 9 years, being an all-star for 3 of those. He was the second overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft and won the Rookie of the Year award. With these two at the helm, the Houston Push are clearly in great hands.

That experience will be key as the players, fans, and coaches all know, playoff basketball is an entirely different beast from the regular season. The Push look to finish the regular season strong and carry their incredible momentum into the playoffs. We can expect great things from the team with the number one record in the TBL and their balanced scoring attack. All the signs point towards this team having success throughout the upcoming playoffs. The entire team shares the ball and shows why they are fifth in the league in assists per game even with Alanie Moore leading the team with only 5.1 per game. The Push are a complete team on both sides of the ball. They’re top five in the league in both steals per game and blocks per game. Steve Francis has put together an exceptional team that has the chance to compete for the championship because of their depth and their ability for anyone on the floor to score. The Push will finish up their regular season on June 27th and plan to make a deep run in the playoffs.
