Nathan Sobey, the 6-foot-2 190 pound 31 year old guard from Australia got called up to the Australian Boomers Olympic squad for the Tokyo Olympics after his stellar play in the NBL21 for the Brisbane Bullets where he is averaging 22.4 points per game on 46% shooting along with 4.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game. Nathan Sobey has proved he’s one of the very best players in the NBL21 and he has had some good games in the Olympic exhibitions such as the Nigeria game where he scored 15 points on a blistering 62.5 percent shooting to go along with 4 boards and 5 assists while also hitting 2 of 3 threes and being a plus 18 on the floors, doing it all for his country.

The Boomers coach Brian Goorjian even mentioned that Sobey’s performances in the NBL21 were too hard to ignore when he stated :“Nathan’s dominance and sustained consistency this season has been outstanding and led to his call- up to the Boomers squad.” Showing his drastic improvement and that all the hard work is paying off. This is big news for Sobeys career because if he has a good showing at the Olympic games he can potentially get a professional contract, whether that’s from the NBL, Euroleague, NBA, etc.

Overall Sobey is one of the best in the NBL1 and his presence on the national team just goes to show that hardwork and dedication pay off and it will be exciting to see where this journey takes him as he heads to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
