Clinton College MBB Rolling into Conference Tournament

February 19, 2023 – Winona Lake, IN –

The Clinton College Golden Bears men’s basketball team, an HBCU of the NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association) have been on an absolute tear this season. The Golden Bears have been absolutely blitzing the DIII competition, currently standing at 18-1 overall, and 6-0 in the NCCAA DI South Region. The Bears are averaging 106.1 points per game on nearly 50% from the field.

The Bears have been impressive, going undefeated (10-0) up to this point this season, and almost near perfect on the road at 6-1, good enough to currently stand at 7th in the NCCAA DI power ratings. Their power rating ranks them at the top of their conference (South Region).

Like all great sports teams, you don’t have a great team without great players and a great leader to lead a group of men or women. The Bears have just that, coached by interim head coach Cory Sloan who has been a great vocal leader for the team and has pushed them to places they never deemed possible, including leading them to a victory over the Edward Waters Tigers, a division II team that they beat 105-80 in the YES USVI Classic HBCU Tournament’s first-consolation round.

A great coach is one key component of a great team, but you also need great players, and the Bears have just that from electrifying guard play whether it’s the sharpshooter from the Bronx, Paul Eromosele, or Brooklyn bucket Jeremiah Anderson who’s the leading scorer on the team at 15.4 points per game on a ludicrous 63% from the field while also help crash the glass with 5.5 rebounds per game and also be a table setter for his teammates with 3.1 per game.

The Bears also have Swiss-army knives at the wing positions in Tyrik Ward-Hoyte and Jaden Clarke whom both are double-figure scorers for the Bears, with both shooting over 50% from the field. They also have the rugged 6-foot-8 Harlem native Isaiah Stone who’s almost averaging a double-double in points and rebounds and is also a big reason why the Bears stand where they currently stand.

The Golden Bears are now preparing for conference tournament play as they look to push for a national tournament bid. With their amazing play this season, including even some upsets over higher-level competition, the Bears should have supreme confidence against any opponent they face heading into tournament season, and with that attitude, they should be a team to be feared amongst opponents.
