October 6, 2023 – Welland, ON, Canada –

In a heartening show of community spirit, the Welland Jackfish and the FINatics Booster Club teamed up to make a significant donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario (RMHCSCO). On Friday, they jointly donated a total of $3,880 in continuation of their “Jackfish Strikeout for Families” campaign.

Ahead of the 2023 season’s commencement, the Jackfish promised that $5 from each of their pitchers’ strikeouts would go towards the charity. The FINatics Booster Club, a passionate non-profit driven by fans, stepped in with a pledge to match that amount, taking the donation to a solid $10 per strikeout. Consequently, with the Jackfish pitchers achieving 388 strikeouts this season, both organizations held true to their promise.

Jackfish President, Ryan Harrison, and Mike Hart, the President of the FINatics Booster Club, took the lead in presenting the donation cheque to Mario De Divitiis, the Chief Executive Officer of RMHCSCO.

The RMHCSCO, situated adjacent to the McMaster Children’s Hospital since 1993, offers a comforting respite for families with gravely ill children undergoing treatment in nearby facilities. As part of a network of 15 Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada, it serves as a cherished “home away from home.” The Niagara-based house is independently managed by Kid’s Care Oncology Central West Ontario. It’s overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors and is sustained through the relentless efforts of a handful of staff and a large body of committed volunteers.

In its three decades of operation, RMHCSCO has extended its support to numerous families in Niagara.

To note, this charitable gesture isn’t an isolated one for the Welland Jackfish. Over the course of this season, they have successfully donated or raised a whopping $70,000 for diverse not-for-profits and charities within the Niagara region.
