NAIA FB: Taylor University vs ²Marian University Preview

February 27, 2021 – Indianapolis, IN –

On Saturday February 27, Spring Football will be back for the Taylor University Trojans. The Trojans will be taking on No. 2 Marian University Knights in Indianapolis at 1:00 PM ET to start their season this Spring.

Both the Taylor University and Marian University are members of the Mideast League of the MSFA (Mid-States Football League) and have had differing records at the end of their seasons over the past couple of years. Marian University Football has been undefeated since the 2018-19 season. While on the other hand, Taylor University Football has only come out with two wins since the 2018-19 season. Over the past 13 years, the two schools have faced each other every season with a record of 12 – 1 in favor of the Marian Knights.

Marian University was picked as the favorites this season in the MSFA Mideast preseason poll and signed 41 new players on this year’s National Signing Day. The Knights have already started this year’s Spring season and are off to a great start. Marian University hosted their first game this season at home on February 13 against Trinity International University. The Knights started their season with a great win, defeating Trinity International 62 – 12. After their game, the Mideast League Players of the week archive was released on February 15, and Marian had player Ricky Kwak named Defensive player of the week, Merrick Strykowski named Special Teams player of the week, and Frankie Young named Offensive player of the week.

Taylor University originally planned to start their Spring season this year on February, 20 against Missouri Baptist, however the game was unfortunately cancelled. The Trojans may not have been able to start their season the way they originally schedule. However, they are still geared up and ready to take on the Knights on February 27, and the Trojans will certainly be looking to give the Knights all they’ve got to get themselves the W on Saturday.
