Jacksonville 95ers Draft Day Triumph: Chris Sodom Takes Center Stage

February 4, 2024 – Indianapolis, IN –

In a strategic and surprising move, the Jacksonville 95ers made headlines just moments before their selection in the 2024 TBL Draft. In a bold trade with the Rocket City Flight, the 95ers acquired the #1 pick, setting the stage for a dramatic draft announcement. This last-minute trade underscored the team’s determined approach and vision for their future in the league. With this newly secured top draft position, the 95ers announced the selection of Chris Sodom, a 7’3″ center from Delaware State University, as their first pick. This move was not just about acquiring a talented player; it was a clear statement of intent from the Jacksonville 95ers. Sodom, known for his impressive defensive skills and towering presence on the court, was seen as the perfect fit for a team looking to make an immediate impact in The Basketball League in their inaugural season.

Sodom’s journey to this prestigious moment has been marked by consistent growth and remarkable achievements. At Delaware State University, he distinguished himself with his shot-blocking ability and dominance in the paint, setting him apart as a player of high caliber. His selection by the 95ers, especially following the dramatic trade for the top pick, speaks volumes about the team’s confidence in his ability to transform their on-court dynamics. The decision to trade for the #1 pick and select Chris Sodom is a strategic move for the Jacksonville 95ers, who are inheriting most of their roster from the former Jacksonville Giants of the American Basketball Association. With Sodom’s inclusion, the team is looking to bolster its presence, especially in terms of defense, and set a strong foundation for future success.

As the team prepares to play their home games at Jacksonville University’s Swisher Gymnasium, a venue with a rich basketball heritage, there is a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation. The historic venue is expected to provide an ideal backdrop for the team’s resurgence, with Sodom’s selection at the forefront of this new chapter for the Jacksonville 95ers. The excitement in Jacksonville is building as the team, with Sodom leading the way, sets out to establish a lasting legacy in the world of basketball.
