Can the Albany Patroons Repeat their Success from 2019?

January 19, 2021 – Albany, NY –

The Albany Patroons finished their season with a record of 16-11. Although this was not the best record in the league, Albany was able to come out on top in the playoffs, defeating the Raleigh Firebirds in the Semifinals and the Yakima SunKings in the Finals.

This was Albany’s first championship since their 1987/88 season when they were a part of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA).

After the championship season, Dr. Tim Maggs became the new owner of the Patroons for the 2020 season.

Albany started out the season with a 6-3 record, good enough for a 5th place tie with the Columbus Condors. However, along with the rest of the teams in The Basketball League (TBL), Albany had its season put to a sudden halt due to COVID-19.

As of January 11, 2021, TBL added 23 more teams to the league, making a total of 35 teams in the league. With more teams comes more competition, which will make it tougher for Albany to have a repeat championship season. However, the Patroons can be repeat champions if they play their cards right.

One key to success for the Patroons is to ensure that the players and staff stay healthy and do not get COVID-19. As has been seen throughout many professional sports recently, multiple strict precautions and measures have been taken to make sure the players and staff stay healthy and do not get or spread COVID-19. If one player gets COVID-19, then it could greatly affect the entire team, especially if the player ends up spreading the virus to other players and staff. If the Patroons are able to implement safety measures for testing and making sure the virus does not spread among the team, then the players will be able to stay healthy and perform to the best of their abilities.

Another key to success for the Patroons is if Dr. Maggs is able to use his program to treat and prevent injuries among the team. Dr. Maggs’ Structural Management Program is a sports biomechanics program that allows doctors to do well in treating and preventing injuries. It is the most advanced program of its kind in the US.

In a press release from Evelyn Magley, the CEO of TBL, she said, “Dr. Maggs is also the Team Market Owner of the Albany Patroons. The team was under his full management and care this past shortened season. But still playing 9 games, the team had no injuries.”

Since Dr. Maggs is the owner of the Patroons, it seems likely that they will have more in-depth access to the program.

Also in the press release, Magley discussed a finding in a study of 351 patients that Dr. Maggs created.

“According to the study, Dr. Maggs showed that every human has biomechanical imbalances in their feet and leg lengths that are never looked at, even in the most detailed sports physicals,” Magley said. “The first step in ‘fixing’ these faults is to perform the appropriate tests.”

After this study, Dr. Maggs created a test called “The Maggs Leg Length Test,” which can help determine biomechanical imbalances in each person and how the imbalances can be fixed. Before players take the court, it is recommended that this test is performed to determine biomechanical imbalances.

This study shows that Dr. Maggs is capable of keeping not just the Patroons healthy, but also other athletes around the world.

To summarize, the keys to Albany’s success include staying healthy, not only from COVID-19, but from injuries that could happen while playing. The teams that are able to do so will likely be the powerhouses of TBL.
